Hello Gene, Being one of the newest moderators of The Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Professional Movers can you tell us a little bit about who Gene Shanholtz is?
Hello everyone my name is Gene Shanholtz and I will be 60 in February 2022 and that will mark 42 Years in this business for me. Luckily my brother in laws help didn't show up and he called me up to help him on a moving job, I was green as grass but I hung in there. That call led me to my Mentor Jim Bishop from Baltimore Maryland one of the best Businessmen out there. He took me under his wing and taught me way beyond just moving furniture and Eventually pushed me into starting my own moving company. Went out and got my own operating authority And the rest is history. To this day I am still good friends with him And if we didn't cross paths Who knows what I would be doing today, And I am very grateful to him. IT'S BEEN ONE HELL OF A RIDE!
With being one of the newest additions to the admin team, how are you adjusting to the role?

What is your definition of a "Professional Crew"?
One that shows up on time in uniform with tools and equipment. Having a great Attitude and giving 100% to the customer's move making it a enjoyable experience.
What is one piece of advice you can as to a fellow driver?
Build strong relationships with the crews and take care of them and they will take of you.
What is one piece of advice you can give the crew leaders on The Movers Specialists List?
Quality over quantity. If you can't cover a job just say so cause reputation is everything.
What is one piece of advice you can give crew leader who are not on the list?
Be prepared when the list opens up. Do your homework and be organized.
What is one thing you want to see added or changed in the group?
It would be some work But special pricing For independents That don't have the buying power like the big Van lines. Packing materials shuttle trucks equipment etc. Like a nationwide COD account that all can use and if we banned together it would be some buying power to cut down on some of these rising costs.
Is there anything else that you would like the group to know about you? I am just a phone call or message away to help anyone out here.
